Hello, my name is Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, but everyone
calls me Lewis Carroll. I was born in Daresbury, in Cheshire, England.
I am the oldest of eleven children, seven of them girls.
When I was younger, I love to entertain guests and myself with
magic tricks, marionette shows, and poems written for homemade
newspapers. Unfortunately, I have a bit of a stammer and,
at an early age, caught Whooping cough, which has crippled my ability
to hear out of my right ear.
"If you drink from a bottle marked " poison" it is certain to disagree with you sooner or later."
My Main Works :
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
The Jabberwokky
The Walrus and the Carpenter
The Hunting of the Snark
Tweedledum and Tweedledee Tweedledum and Tweedledee
agreed to have a battle;
For Tweedledum said Tweedledee
had spoiled his nice new rattle.
Just then flew down a monstrous crow,
as black as a tar-barrel;
Which frightened both the heroes so,
they soon forgot their quarrel.
My reaction when I first read the poem was laughter
because the picture that appeared in my mind
was hilarious. But when I reread it, I understood
that the theme of the poem is that it is unnecessary
to fight over little things, such as spoiled rattles
The rhyme scheme of this poem is ABAB CDCD.
The poetic devices that are used in this poem are imagery and simile.
My reaction to this poem was of a flashback of all
of the medieval stories that i have read.
This reminds me of them because it has to do
with evil monsters, swords and slayings, knights,
kings, and, most of all, victory. The theme of this poem is
that you need to conquer your fears,
no matter how big and scary they may seem. The rhyme scheme
for this marvelous poem is ABAB CDCD EFEF... until the
very last phrase, where it is ABAB again. The poetic devices that are
used are onomatopoeia, imagery, and symbolism. The Jabberwocky symbolizes fear.
How Doth the Little Crocodile
How doth the little crocodile
Improve his shining tail,
And pour the waters of the Nile On every golden scale!
How cheerfully he seems to grin
How neatly he spreads his claws,
And welcomes little fishes in,
With gently smiling jaws!
My reaction to this poem was surprise because I didn't expect
the crocodile to use likable qualities to bring someone, in this
case fish, to their doom. i believe that the theme of this poem is that
we need to always be on the look out for someone who might want to
cause danger or even humiliation to us.the rhyme scheme here is
ABAB CDCD. The poetic device that is used here is imagery.
My pictures:
He spoiled my rattle!!!
Attack of the Jabberwocky!!!!
